Virat Kohli scored his maiden Test century in more than three years as India scored 73 in the first session on Day 4 of the fourth Test against Australia.
KS Bharat (25* off 70) joined them when Jadeja threw away his wicket early in the day as India finished the session at 362/4.
Kohli reached another milestone on Saturday when he became the fifth Indian batsman to score 4000 Test runs on Indian soil. But the day belonged to Shubman Gill who scored a century before being dismissed by Nathan Lyon.
India would like to win this match and the series 3-1 to qualify for the World Test Championship final.
If they lose this match and Sri Lanka win the ongoing series against New Zealand 2–0, the Sri Lankan team will qualify for the WTC final against Australia.
If India draw, and Sri Lanka fail to clean sweep the Kiwis, the WTC final between India and Australia will take place at The Oval in June.
